President's Message

Hello HDI Members in the Heartland!  It is so great to be able to talk with you.   I realize some of you may be new to HDI and some of you may be veterans, but let me take a moment to introduce you to HDI and the HDI Heartland Chapter.


HDI (Help Desk Institute) was founded in 1989 in order to provide professional development, industry-specific knowledge, training, and publications specific to those in the technical support industry.  The need was great and since starting in 1989, HDI has grown to be the global leader in providing resources for technical support professionals.  Many of you may have heard of HDI as strictly for Help Desks.  But you should know that HDI is much more than this.  HDI is a great resource for those working in or leading a Help Desk, but is also built to provide resources for executives to technicians across the entire service management spectrum.  So if you do technical support in any way (Help Desk, Service Desk, Desktop, Application Development, Infrastructure, etc, etc) HDI is for YOU.  Not sure you know enough?  Check out this short video.

So what is the Heartland chapter?  The HDI Heartland chapter is a local resource for you that helps connect Service Management professionals around the Kansas City area.  Your HDI membership includes a membership to this local chapter.  The HDI local and national community that we are a part of will help provide you with the support you need to be your best.  Didn’t know this?  Well now you know!

Over the last year, our local chapter has gone through some changes in leadership and, quite honestly, we have struggled keeping things going during the transition.  But with the help of a few folks in the area who have joined the chapter board and HDI, plans have been made and we are excited about getting some renewed spirit in our local chapter!


So what can you do?  Keep an eye out for chapter events coming up and get ready to attend!  We have a new website coming out and some events coming up over the next 12 months that you will want to be a part of.  Also, we will be sharing industry information that we feel is relevant and that we want to share because it was helpful.  So if you are about learning – you will be pleased  And much more…


Thank you all for your time and continued contribution to the Service Management industry.  Being able to help others is truly a privilege and we should all be honored to have such responsibility.
